Credit Report Inquiry Q&A

Why do I have an inquiry from Medlytix® on my credit report?

Medlytix® provides credit information to healthcare providers, hospitals, physicians or their designated collection agencies. If you have a Medlytix® inquiry on your credit file, it is because our client has requested credit information as the result of a medical debt.

Will this inquiry negatively affect my credit report or otherwise affect my ability to obtain financing?

Medlytix® inquiries should typically read “AR ########## MEDLYTIX/XXXX” and are considered “account review” inquiries (as noted by the AR at the beginning of the inquiry). The AR inquiry will not adversely affect a patient’s credit score or their ability to obtain financing; the inquiry is only visible when the patient requests a copy of his/her credit file.

Can I find out which healthcare provider, hospital, physician group or collection agency requested my information?

Yes. Medlytix® inquiries should typically read “AR ########## MEDLYTIX/XXXX“. If they do, the “XXXX” portion of the inquiry (everything to the right of the forward slash (i.e. “/”) is the name of the healthcare provider, hospital, physician group or collection agency that has requested your information. In some cases, the “XXXX” is not shown but you can retrieve that information by contacting Equifax at 800-203-7843 or submitting your request to us through a Consumer Inquiry.

Can I contact the healthcare provider, hospital, physician group or collection agency that requested my information?

Yes. You can choose to contact the healthcare provider, hospital, physician group or collections agency by mail or by phone. For more information regarding how to contact the healthcare provider, please complete a Consumer Inquiry.
